Magnetic centrifugal pumps MDW series – plastic

Plastic pumps with magnetic coupling for leak-proof and safe pumping.

The MDW series is IWAKI's largest-in-class fluoroplastic magnetic drive pump, offering high efficiency and durability for chemical processes. With larger motors for even greater performance, the MDW series opens up performance potential in previously unex

The magnetic drive process pumps made by IWAKI feature a special design that allows their use also under unfavourable operating conditions. An exactly matched arrangement of the rare earth magnets with high magnetic power in combination with appropriately dimensioned compensating areas clearly reduces tarnishing of the contact surfaces of the impeller unit in the front and the rear pump area. With this, this pump is significantly more wear-resistant and usually, it is almost maintenance-free. Furthermore, this measure prevents damages or unwanted deformation on the wet plastic parts due to high frictional heat.

Due to the robust and low-wear design, the magnet-driven process pumps made by IWAKI can be found in nearly all industrial areas, including demanding applications in the chemical pharmaceutical industry.

Features

High discharge capacity, high head and high efficiency

The powerful MDW pump is capable of providing a maximum discharge capacity of 300 m3/h and a maximum head of 98 m, which allows it to be used in previously unexplored areas with a wide range of liquid specific gravity.

Highly chemically resistant

Fluoroplastic and fine ceramic wetted parts provide high resistance to almost all industrial chemicals, regardless of concentration.

Robust design

The use of an external armor made of high-strength ductile iron is mandatory for heavy chemical processes. The high pressure resistance of the casing is achieved thanks to the unique design of the rear part of the casing, which prevents stress concentration and includes a three-layer structure (PAT). The MDW uses a special metal shaft to withstand high radial forces and ensure continuous long-term operation even under difficult operating conditions.

Rear pull-out system

The rear pull-out system allows for easy maintenance and inspection without dismantling the piping. The integrated components and sealed rear housing support structure allow for safe removal of the motor without chemical leakage.

ISO compliance

The MDW pump complies with international standard dimensions (ISO2858, 3661) and is interchangeable with conventional hermetic centrifugal pumps.

Applications

  • Chemical industry
  • Metallurgy
  • Coke industry
  • Food industry
  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Metal plating
  • Energy
  • Seawater pools

Advantages

  • Tightness - the magnetic clutch drive eliminates product leakage through the shaft seal, since the design does not provide for it.
  • Economy - the pump design does not require frequent and expensive repairs to replace seals
  • Japanese quality - pumps are designed and manufactured in Japan

Main materials

  • PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) is a high-performance thermoplastic material that belongs to the fluoropolymer family, similar to PTFE, but can be melted and recycled.
  • GFRPP - glass fiber reinforced polypropylene.
  • CFRETFE (Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene) - Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene reinforced with carbon fiber.
  • Aluminiumkeramik - Aluminum oxide is known for its high hardness, wear resistance and excellent electrical insulation properties
  • SiC Silicon Carbide - has high wear resistance and corrosion resistance, which makes this material one of the best materials for use in chemical pumps.
