Heavy Duty Clutches

Wichita pneumatic disc clutches and brakes provide friction disc diameters ranging from 100 mm to 2,500 mm and a torque range of 50 Nm to 2,000,000 Nm in single, double, or triple plate designs. This means there is a standard WICHITA unit to solve the problem, even in designs where available mounting space is limited or the rotational speed is high.

 

Advantages

Precise control of a wide variety of machine functions can be achieved with an operating environment conducive to compressed air. Since the units have free-moving discs, the force which is directly proportional to the applied pressure in the air tube allows for precise torque control in the following applications:

  • Torque limiting and overload protection
  • Winding and unwinding of paper, fabric, foil, plastic, ferrous, and non-ferrous metals
  • Line tension control on winches
  • Dynamometer and test rig setup

 

Alternatively, the air tube can be rapidly inflated and deflated using quick-acting valves.
