Type AE is a roller type freewheel without bearings that requires the customer to provide proper bearings, lubrication and sealing. The nominal outer diameter corresponds to the dimensions of certain standard ball bearing series.

Application examples
It is normally installed next to a bearing with the same installation tolerance. The outer race has a tolerance of h6 and the locating bore should have one of K7, with the notches in the faces enabling torque transmission. The notches are not required for housings with a tolerance of R6. The housing must be dimensionally stable and the axial play is sufficient to allow the races to be displaced by S/2.
