Optimised leak tightness and low friction for efficient cylinders and valves

Optimised leak tightness and low friction for efficient cylinders and valves

The K-rings adapt to the pressure conditions in the cylinders and valves. This ensures the perfect balance between low friction and a tight seal, whatever the pressure. How the K-ring works: The K-ring is installed with radial preloading and without pressure. The lips rest against the groove wall.

When pressure builds up, it causes the lip on the pressure side to lift up in the groove. As the pressure increases, the sealing edge is pressed more firmly against the bearing surface. Thanks to its special design, the K-ring is able to adapt perfectly to the surface to be sealed whatever the pressure. There is no air loss even when a change in pressure occurs at the sealing ring. This ensures optimum leak tightness along with extremely low friction. The special shape of the sealing edge also ensures that the grease film remains on the bearing surface for a long time. As a result, there is no need for relubrication with air containing oil. Because the ring adapts perfectly to the sealing surface and enables easy lubrication, several million strokes can be performed (depending on the stroke length). On average, only approx. 2% of the available piston force is lost through friction. As standard, K-rings are available in internally and externally sealing versions with diameters ranging from 6 mm to 60 mm, as well as in heat and cold-resistant grades. Our product range also includes complete pistons with diameters from 20 mm to 200 mm. K-rings are ideal for the high demands placed on special and in-house cylinders and valves, even under difficult conditions. By incorporating them, you can increase the performance of your components to achieve an efficient solution.
