Small version without bearings for low transmission values.
The RSXM series complements the RSCI range by offering freewheels in compact sizes. This special RSXM version is a sprag type freewheel that is characterised by the way the sprags lift off centrifugally when the inner race rotates.
Only the inner race is suitable for the overrunning motion, and the freewheel itself has no bearings.
For correct operation, it is necessary to install bearings that are able to ensure the concentricity of the races. These bearings must be able to absorb both radial and axial forces. In addition, the radial and axial run-out must be within the specified tolerances.
The RSXM freewheels are compatible with the standard lubricants used in drive technology and can also be installed directly in a gearbox without the need for separate lubrication. Oil mist lubrication is often sufficient. If the freewheel is primarily intended for overrunning, grease can also be used as a lubricant.
If the freewheel is installed as a backstop, it must be ensured that the overrunning speed does not fall below the minimum idling speed specified in the relevant table. This is to ensure that the freewheel functions safely and reliably in the respective application.
