RSCI with integrated torque limiter for limiting the transmission torque. Optionally available with a mechanical or hydraulic rele
The RSRV and RSRT are a special type of centrifugal lift-off freewheel. They are based on the RSCI sprag type freewheels but are also equipped with a frictional torque limiter.
The limiter restricts the transmitted torque to a factory-set maximum value. The use of special oil-impregnated friction linings ensures consistent torque limiting, even after prolonged periods of inactivity.
These models are primarily used as backstops in multi-motor drives, such as on conveyors. Type RSRV is the basic version and is designed solely for moment balancing. By contrast, type RSRT features an additional mechanical release device that allows for controlled relief of the entire drive unit. A hydraulic release device is also available by way of an alternative.
When determining the correct size, please note that the torque limit should be around 20% above the maximum expected static operating torque (taking account of potential overloads). The freewheel unit itself is not mounted on bearings, meaning that the drive shaft and freewheel housing must be precisely positioned. The radial and axial run-out should be within the specified tolerances to ensure reliable operation.
