Types FS, FSO and HPI are sprag type freewheels that are sealed and supplied ready to install. They are supported by bearings and are either oil or grease lubricated.

These freewheels were developed by Formsprag in the USA and are equipped with sprags that provide effective compensation for eccentric misalignments caused by bearing wear.
Types FS and HPI are oil lubricated and are sealed with shaft sealing rings. Type FSO is grease lubricated but is likewise sealed with shaft sealing rings. Type HPI is an indexing freewheel that is specially designed for high indexing speeds.
A range of metric bore diameters are available for the separate sizes of these freewheels. In addition, they can be supplied with special bore diameters within the range specified in the dimension sheet. This includes bore diameters in inches.
