Bearing-supported roller type freewheel, featuring notches in the outer race, for installation next to a ball bearing.
Type NFR is a bearing-supported roller type freewheel that is supplied without any sealing. Sealing and lubrication must be provided separately. In this regard, the use of oil lubrication is recommended.
A “steel-on-steel” plain bearing is provided for sizes NFR 8 to 20. From size 25 upwards, two series 160 ball bearings are installed, enabling significantly higher overrunning speeds.
The example on the next page shows how this freewheel is typically installed. The torque on the inner race is transmitted via a keyway. The outer diameter of the outer race has an n6 tolerance and the fit of the locating bore should have a tolerance of H7.
There are notches in the end faces of the outer race for transmitting the torque. The housing must be dimensionally stable to ensure reliable support for the outer race. This is to ensure that the performance and functionality of the freewheel remain stable.
