Efficient and Accurate Web Handling for Stretch-Sensitive Materials
Reliable and customizable – the Vorwald 409 LF friction shaft ensures precise winding performance for delicate and variable-thickness materials.
The Vorwald Series 409 LF pneumatic friction shaft is expertly designed for longitudinal web cutting during winding processes, especially for stretch-sensitive materials. Engineered for high performance and reliability, this shaft delivers consistent web tension—even when material thickness varies—ensuring optimal results and reduced waste.
At the core of the 409 LF shaft is a direct friction mechanism where slip occurs between the friction elements and the core. This allows precise control of tension across diverse web widths. The aluminium or steel carrier body features a refined surface finish, and the steel journals are tailored to customer specifications.
A unique pneumatic bladder system applies torque through expanding ledges made of low-friction plastic, pressing against the inner side of the core. Torque is dynamically controlled through a diameter sensing system, maintaining consistent tension with a minimum 3% overspeed requirement.
From core diameters of 50 mm upwards, the Series 409 LF is available in custom dimensions and lightweight variants to meet various operational needs. Its low-maintenance design, quick reel changeovers, and automation compatibility make it an ideal solution for modern converting lines.
