Engineered for High Torque Transmission and Precise Winding Applications
Versatile mechanical expansion chucks with customizable expansion lugs or leafs for secure, concentric clamping in winding processes.
The Vorwald 860/861 series expansion chucks are a reliable solution for a wide range of winding applications. Designed for flexibility and durability, these mechanical chucks use individual expansion lugs or leafs to ensure secure and concentric clamping of cores with internal diameters ranging from 50 to 500 mm.
The simple yet robust construction guarantees a long service life, while the modular design allows for easy customization. Expansion is achieved through a pneumatic/mechanical system that uses an inclined plane principle—compressed air moves a piston, driving a cone beneath the expansion lugs to generate a strong radial clamping force. This ensures uniform expansion and absolutely centred clamping, ideal for high-speed winding.
The Series 861 variant includes an optional hydraulic booster for even greater clamping force. Customers can choose from a variety of expansion lugs, including steel with grooved or smooth polyurethane surfaces, as well as quick-change versions. Leaf expansion options are also available, with all types featuring a retracting system for effortless core changes.
With flange or bearing shaft configurations, adaptable diameters via core adapters, and material choices for the chuck mantle, Vorwald’s 860/861 series is the trusted choice for demanding winding applications.
