Quick and easy adaptation to larger core diameters. The existing expansion chuck activates the adapter.
The Vorwald series 900 adapter with individual expansion lugs or expansion leaves is required for applications that call for frequent changes between different core sizes.
Several types of expansion lug are available to cover all requirements: longitudinally grooved steel expansion lugs and polyurethane expansion lugs with smooth surfaces or bolted versions with different surface profiles that can be quickly interchanged.
The different surfaces of the expansion lugs or expansion leaves ensure maximum torque transmission into the various core materials. All expansion lugs or leaves are equipped with a retraction system that ensures that they slide back safely. This makes it easy to slide the cores on and off. The adapters are available for cores with an internal diameter of up to 500 mm.
The adapter is activated by the associated expansion chuck. To be more precise, this means that the adapter is positioned by means of a key, pushed onto an expansion chuck and secured with radial set screws to prevent axial slip. When the carrier expansion chuck now expands, the expansion lugs or leaves of the adapter are pressed outwards too. Another very important advantage is that the clamping of the cores is perfectly centred, as all expansion lugs expand evenly. This enables very high winding speeds to be achieved.
The mantles of the adapters can be made from a variety of materials with various wall thicknesses – depending on the customer’s application. The adapters are based on the Vorwald standard and are custom-made using a modular concept.
