Camozzi Series RL Rod Lock: Compact and Reliable Holding Force

The Camozzi Series RL rod lock is a compact and efficient solution for securing pneumatic cylinders in static positions, especially under emergency stop conditions or unexpected air supply loss. Designed for cylinders conforming to ISO 15552 and ISO 6432 standards, the RL series is available in nine sizes ranging from Ø 20 mm to Ø 125 mm.

Functioning in both directions, the unit blocks the piston rod when pressure is removed and releases when pressure is applied—ensuring reliable load holding without the need for constant pneumatic force. This makes it ideal for safety-critical applications where preventing unwanted movement is essential.

Constructed from anodized aluminum (housing) and brass (clamp) with NBR seals, the rod lock operates between 3 to 8 bar and withstands temperatures from 0°C to 80°C, or down to -20°C with dry air. Ports range from M5 for smaller sizes to G1/8 for larger ones, and the use of filtered, non-lubricated air is standard—though continuous lubrication with ISOVG32 is also supported.

The Series RL is not designed to brake a moving load; it must only engage once motion has stopped. Also, using a rod lock requires extending the piston rod length—refer to manufacturer guidelines for correct sizing.
