PTM’s pneumatic radial piston motors are engineered with efficiency, flexibility, and durability in mind. At the heart of these motors is the radial piston principle, optimized to drastically reduce compressed air usage—by up to 90% compared to vane motors—while still delivering exceptional torque from startup.
Instead of using connecting rods or crankshafts, EasyDrive motors feature pistons arranged radially in a star configuration, rolling along an internal curve. Compressed air is precisely supplied and exhausted via a central rotating control ring and a fixed shaft. This design allows maximum torque output right from the start, with torque decreasing as speed increases—an energy-efficient approach that minimizes waste.

For precise speed or torque adjustments, PTM offers custom planetary gear units with gear ratios of 3:1, 9:1 (reduction), and 1:2 (increase). Multiple mounting options—including flanges and brackets—support easy installation even in confined or challenging setups.
PTM’s radial piston motors are available in FDA-compliant versions, using electrochemically polished V4A (1.4404) stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance. These are ideal for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications. Additional variants with IP68 rating and explosion-proof certification make them suitable for underwater use or explosive environments.
