Standard 3-piece design for high torques. Universal application possibilities.

Standard Series for High Torques
Shrink discs are one of the most advanced types of frictional shaft-hub connections. Depending on the design, they essentially consist of one or two conical pressure rings and an inner ring. These components are axially clamped against each other using clamping screws. The main difference from other internal clamping connections is that the pressure is applied externally to the hub. This means the shrink disc is not part of the main torque transmission path. Instead, the torque is transmitted by friction between the shaft and the hub contact surfaces without an intermediate element. This allows the shrink disc to easily and cost-effectively create an interference fit (shrink fit) for high-load shaft-hub connections.

This offers significant advantages over conventional methods that required complex calculations, tight manufacturing tolerances, and difficult assembly/disassembly procedures. Additionally, no problems arise during repair in terms of interchangeability or centering. No other type of shaft-hub connection offers comparable properties in terms of fatigue strength under alternating torque and runout accuracy.

  • Unlimited applications – RINGFEDER shrink discs are suitable for securing all types of hub elements on shafts and axles. They can be used wherever interference fits, keys, splines, polygonal connections, or multiple-spline shafts were previously applied. Examples include gears, chain wheels, levers, cams, timing disks, belt or brake discs, flywheels, couplings, mounted gear units, flanges, sheaves, and running wheels.
  • Standard series for high torques – the most commonly used shrink disc. This type can be adjusted to construction requirements by varying the screw tightening torque.
  • Slotted inner ring – low losses and low surface pressure on shaft and hub.
  • Compensation of small tolerance errors.
  • Maximum reliability – suitable for static, dynamic, and shock loads.
  • Simple component manufacturing – low requirements for the functional surfaces of the components to be connected.
  • Easy replacement – RINGFEDER shrink discs operate without any form fit.
  • Simple assembly – no shoulder, key, or pin required. Mountable at any shaft position using standard screws and commercially available tools. No additional machining or fitting is necessary.
  • Easy disassembly – after loosening the clamping screws, the RINGFEDER shrink disc is self-releasing and movable on the shaft.
  • Low sensitivity to contamination – extended service life, as the contact surfaces are pressed tightly together when the clamping screws are tightened. Dirt and moisture cannot penetrate the functional surface.

Shrink Discs GT (Split Version)
In such configurations, longer clamping screws are required depending on dimension X and must be ordered accordingly. If dimension "X" exceeds 2 · L1, the transmittable torque of the GT type may be reduced by up to 50%.
