Small 3-piece design for low torques. Very low moment of inertia due to the lightweight construction.
Mini series for particularly lightweight applications
Shrink discs are one of the most modern types of frictional connections. Depending on the design, they essentially consist of one or two conical pressure rings and an inner ring. These elements are axially clamped against each other using clamping screws. The key difference from other internal clamping connections is that the pressure is exerted externally on the hub. This means the shrink disc is not in the main load path. Instead, the torque is transmitted via friction at the contact surface between shaft and hub without any intermediate element. In this way, a shrink disc can provide a press fit (shrink fit) for high-load shaft-hub connections in a simple and cost-effective manner.
This offers significant advantages over traditional methods, which require complex calculations, tight manufacturing tolerances, and difficult assembly and disassembly procedures to achieve press fits. Additionally, there are no issues with interchangeability or centering during repairs. No other type of shaft-hub connection offers comparable properties in terms of torsional fatigue strength and concentricity.
Unlimited application possibilities – RINGFEDER shrink discs are suitable for mounting all types of hub components on shafts and axles. They can be used wherever shrink fits, keyways, splines, polygonal, or multi-spline connections were previously applied. They ensure reliable fastening of gear and chain wheels, levers, cams, rollers, belt or brake discs, flywheels, couplings, shaft-mounted gear units, flanges, rope pulleys, and impellers.
Mini series – with low moment of inertia, especially for mechanical seals and small gear units.
Slotted inner ring – low friction losses and minimal pressures on shaft and hub.
Compensation for small tolerance deviations.
Maximum reliability – suitable for static, dynamic, and shock loads.
Simple component manufacturing – low requirements on functional surfaces of mating components.
Easy replacement – RINGFEDER shrink discs work entirely without form fit.
Simple installation – no shoulder, key, or pin required. Can be installed anywhere on the shaft using standard screws and commercially available tools. No additional machining or fitting work is necessary.
Easy disassembly – after loosening the clamping screws, the RINGFEDER shrink disc releases itself and can be freely moved on the shaft.
Low sensitivity to contamination – increased service life, as the contact surfaces are pressed tightly together when the clamping screws are tightened. Dirt and moisture cannot reach the functional surface.
