When the robot always works at the exact same point

Every industrial robot operates within a coordinate system based on the functional tool center point (TCP). Even minimal deviations from the actual TCP immediately affect the process: inaccurate dispensing, misaligned weld seams, scrap parts or unexpected downtime.

How TCP calibration works in practice

After selecting the appropriate laser TCP measuring unit, the robot moves along a defined path through the laser beams. By detecting beam interruptions, the system calculates the actual tool center point and compares it to reference values.

During recalibration, the robot repeats this path and the detected deviations are automatically corrected within the robot controller. The process is fast, repeatable and can be performed:

  • after tool changes
  • after maintenance
  • at the beginning of a shift
  • or even during every production cycle
