Non-Collective Sanitation (NCS) refers to independent systems for collecting, treating, and disposing of domestic wastewater from homes not connected to the public network. This system operates directly on the plot of land concerned.
It handles all domestic effluent, including blackwater (from toilets) and graywater (from bathrooms, kitchens, and household appliances). To ensure effective treatment, these systems must decontaminate all of this water.
Rich in pathogenic microorganisms, organic matter, and nitrogen and phosphorus elements, this wastewater can pose health and environmental risks. To limit these impacts, the installation of a non-collective sanitation system is now a regulatory requirement.
